Hey Beautiful Beings!!!
I am a black British female in my twenties, and to put it simply, I’m tyaddd oh. (On top of the general stress of feeling like I’m supposed to have my life sorted by 25,) I am tired and frustrated with the injustices that my race is continually forced to face. Compared with the overt racism of our past, the racism that we face today is often an insidious, covert kind of racism that has been absorbed deep into the fabric of our society. Microassaults or what seem like minor injustices are just the tip of the iceberg or the bubbles at the surface of a deeper institutionally ingrained problem.
This blog will hopefully be an outlet for me and a very small part of the solution that everyone should strive for, in terms of starting conversations concerning the issues that we face.
Although I argue for justice I am still a female in her 20s that lives in, and (occasionally) enjoys her problematic world. When I’m taking public transport, I prefer the back of the bus (Claudette Colvin and Rosa Parks, I stan but who wants to sit at the front with the mums, their baby’s buggies and the elderly?), and against my better (feminist) judgement, my favourite genre of music is rap. We all have some way to go.
I’m an imperfect activist.
